Nourishing Families, Supporting Farmers: A Community-Driven Solution
Neighbor’s Harvest
Neighbor’s Harvest is a Community Supported Agricultural venture advancing food access, workforce development, financial sustainability, and scalable impact through community-centered design
Belmont Enactus focuses on intentionality and relationships to stay true to our chapter mission of collaborative, human-centered designed solutions rather than prescriptive ones.
The Problem
Nashville is booming with business and tourism, expanding rapidly over the past few years.
But for the families who’ve called Nashville home for generations, this growth hasn’t brought opportunity—it’s brought food deserts, systematic disinvestment, and persistent recidivism.
In this shadow of economic prosperity, 40% of Tennessee families with children are food insecure.
30% of Tennessee's offenders are re-incarcerated within three years.
The Partner
A local Nashville farm, Cul2vate, grows organic produce while specifically employing formerly incarcerated individuals, called Cul2vators.
Assessing our Cul2vate's needs began with those farmers themselves, where we learned that inefficient sales channels were leaving 60% of Cul2vate’s revenue on the table. Additionally, Cul2vators work exposure was limited to agricultural practices.
The Solution
Neighbor’s Harvest is a produce subscription model conceived, launched, and led by Belmont Enactus designed to monetize historically donated produce—expanding Cul2vate’s mission without reducing its impact on hunger relief.
